Substation Design Project Manager

Our team is expanding and we need a Substation Design Project Manager at our Austin location. The ideal candidate will oversee a variety of substation design projects, covering brownfield sites, switching stations, and renewable connections, ranging from 12-kV to 500-kV.This role requires strong leadership skills, a solid engineering background, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage complex projects from start to finish. You will collaborate with clients, subcontractors, internal teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure project safety, adherence to schedules, and profitability.ResponsibilitiesLead the entire life cycle of substation projects, including planning, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and completionDevelop and manage project budgets, schedules, scopes, and deliverablesAct as the main point of contact for clients, providing project updates, strategic planning, and issue resolutionManage mobilization and demobilization at project sites, supporting construction managers as neededCreate RFPs, scopes of work, and bid packages; assist with vendor selection and contract negotiationsSupervise project documentation, permitting, quality control, safety compliance, and field auditsCoordinate with various project disciplines, including engineering, procurement, construction, and controlsMonitor project performance, cost tracking, procurement challenges, and potential risksEnsure accurate invoicing, change management logs, and closeout documentationHelp maintain client relationships and identify future business opportunitiesRequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institutionMinimum of 7 years of experience in high-voltage substation projects (physical and P&C)At least 3 years of direct project management experiencePE license is preferredPMP certification is a bonusStrong organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilitiesExperience collaborating with public, utility, and government clients on large-scale infrastructure projectsValid driver's license and ability to satisfy company Motor Vehicle Safety Policy criteria
