Senior Quality Engineer

Job Purpose The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting all quality engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle—from introduction of new products (NPI) through sustaining changes. This includes auditing, verifying, validating product designs and manufacturing processes, project planning, and documentation. The role investigates root causes, tracks defect trends, and ensures systemic changes are implemented. It facilitates process improvements and corrective actions collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and Production, develops and maintains quality standards, generates protocols and reports, and provides coaching to engineers and repair personnel on quality system requirements and process improvement methodologies. Nature of Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with ME and Production to facilitate process fixes, investigate root causes, track defect trends, and ensure systemic changes are implemented. Incorporate ISO, API Q1, and AS9100 standards through the product life cycle by auditing, validating, and verifying inspection and process control methodologies. Provide guidance on Six Sigma principles (Sampling, Acceptance Criteria, DOE, SPC, RCA, FMEA) and Design Control elements to NPI team members and repair staff. Develop and execute verification and validation plans and protocols in accordance with ISO regulations and company SOPs. Manage multiple projects simultaneously without supervision, creating detailed tasks, interfacing with team members, and resolving conflicts. Support supplier audits and evaluate proposed vendor changes for NPI and sustaining activities. Perform internal audits of the quality system per ISO requirements. Support the CAPA program to facilitate timely closure of corrective and preventative actions. Control, implement, and review ECOs to ensure compliance with the quality system. Estimate and gather necessary information on timelines and costs related to QA/QC tasks for project planning. Perform hazard and risk analysis for new and sustaining products. Investigate issues affecting product quality. Act as liaison between QA and project engineers to ensure inspection process capabilities are verified and documented. Review mechanical drawings using SolidWorks for inspection planning and verification. Develop, implement, and verify inspection plans using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment and GD&T principles. Education & Experience BS in Engineering or similar degree with 4+ years manufacturing experience, or 8+ years experience in lieu of a degree. 4+ years in a Quality Engineering role. Expertise in applying and interpreting GD&T on mechanical drawings. Hands‑on experience with CMM, including programming, operation, and data interpretation. Proficiency in SolidWorks for reviewing 3D models and extracting measurement data. Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, and Process Validation. ASQ CQE/CSSBB or equivalent preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical drawing requirements and supplier communication. Strong understanding of design and manufacturing process controls. Ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct quality control practices. Computer literate in Word, Excel, Oracle. Strong technical writing skills for protocols and reports. Excellent organization and prioritization of multiple tasks. Ability to communicate key technical and process issues; independently develop action plans. Teamwork and conflict resolution skills across departments. Base pay will be determined at offer stage based on experience, education, and skills.
