Assistant Project Manager

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager Location: Farmingdale, NY Salary: $80,000-$90,000 + Benefits Allegiance Group is partnered with a well-established mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join their growing team. Our client delivers mechanical and HVAC projects across Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City, with a diverse portfolio spanning apartment buildings, condominiums, commercial properties, and large-scale developments. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC/mechanical professional looking to take the next step in their career and develop their project management expertise. The successful candidate will support the management and delivery of multiple mechanical projects from pre-construction through completion, working closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Assist Project Managers with HVAC/mechanical projects from award through completion Support project budgets, schedules, procurement, and overall project delivery Review plans, specifications, drawings, and contracts Coordinate with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, subcontractors, and vendors Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation Assist with material procurement and equipment deliveries Monitor project costs, schedules, and outstanding items Help identify potential project issues and work with the Project Manager to develop solutionsAttend project meetings and assist with providing regular updates to stakeholders Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams to support project execution Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, and closeout documentation Ensure work is progressing in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety procedures Assist with estimating, proposals, change orders, and project turnover where required Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners Support the Project Manager with day-to-day project administration and coordination Requirements: 1+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical construction Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Estimator, or similar Strong understanding of commercial HVAC/mechanical systems and construction practices Experience working on commercial, residential, multifamily, or large-scale construction projects Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and contracts Understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change orders Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously Experience working with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, and subcontractors Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with project management software is a plus The contractor's work spans Long Island and the five boroughs, with projects including apartment buildings, condominiums, commercial properties, multi-family developments, new construction, renovations, and fit-outs.
