Security Specialist

Summary

About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Security Specialist in the Security Management Branch of the Law Enforcement and Security Division at the Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD). The primary purpose of this position is to perform a full range of moderately difficult to complex functional (force protection, intelligence, personnel, physical, information, etc.) security duties and assignments to insure an acceptable security posture for PCD.

Duties

Help

• Advise the Commander and staff on threat conditions, vulnerabilities, and force protection policies.
• Collect and shares threat intelligence with local security and law enforcement personnel.
• Evaluate physical security controls to protect facilities, arms, ammunition, explosives (AA and E), and government property.
• Train personnel on reducing and reporting criminal activity.
• Oversee the annual Installation Security Awareness Training program across all depot units and contractors.
• Review records and adjudicates employment suitability for non-sensitive positions.
• Coordinate foreign disclosure requests, including those involving international treaties.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
• This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty. Incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
• Incumbent is required to operate a Government vehicle therefore, must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Physical Security inspector credentials, DA Form 4261-1, in accordance with AR 190-13, within one year of entering position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Establishing and monitoring security programs to meet operational needs; 2. Providing advisory services on security, force protection, and safety issues; AND 3. Resolving complex security issues in areas such as Operational, Physical, and Personnel Security, Protection, Information, Antiterrorism and/or classified information programs . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: cybersecurity, criminal justice, intelligence analysis, computer science, information assurance, security studies, homeland security, or other related fields of study.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
