Tax Director

Part-Time | 20–30 Hours/Week

Our client is a respected accounting consulting firm looking for a Tax Director who wants high-level client work without a traditional full-time schedule.

This is a great fit for an experienced tax professional who enjoys technical review, client advisory, planning, and relationship-building — but also wants flexibility around real life. The role can be mostly remote, with occasional in-office days and team events to stay connected.

What you’ll be doing:

• Review and/or prepare complex tax returns, including individual, corporate, nonprofit, and partnership returns
• Serve as a technical reviewer on tax returns, workpapers, and supporting documentation
• Research complex tax issues and provide guidance on federal, state, and local tax matters
• Provide proactive tax planning advice to help clients minimize liabilities and stay compliant
• Manage corporate client tax needs, including federal and state compliance
• Prepare quarterly and year-end estimates to support client planning
• Manage and coordinate tax audits
• Communicate directly with clients on tax-related questions, planning opportunities, and compliance needs
• Build trusted client relationships through planning, consulting, and technical expertise
• Stay current on tax law changes and apply updates to client situations
• Help strengthen tax processes, best practices, and service offerings within the firm

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field
• Active CPA license required
• 8+ years of tax experience, including individual and corporate tax
• 5+ years of public accounting experience
• Experience serving as the final technical reviewer on tax returns, documents, and workpapers
• Strong knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, tax regulations, and related guidance
• Ability to research technical tax matters and apply findings to client-specific situations
• Strong client communication, writing, and advisory skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
• Collaborative, patient, and positive leadership style
