Job Summary Provides technical expertise in the oversight of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide, local and storage area networks (WANs, LANs, SANs) and public switched telephone networks | Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability | Plans, designs, implements and supports LANs/WANs/SANs in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security and wireless | Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities Impact of the Role General Profile Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines Solves complex problems Works independently, receives minimal guidance May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment Essential Functions Deploys and implements plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. May also have responsibility for Network Administration including: oResponsible for the daily administration of a network and server environment. oInstalls, configures, and maintains system software. oMonitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and deploys solutions. oDocuments network issues and events using standard formats. oPlans and implements upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment installation. oUses scripting and writes basic programs to automate processes. oMaintains and follows disaster recovery, security, backup, and restore plans. oMay evaluate new tools or equipment and perform analysis/feasibility studies to guide decisions on optimizing network performance. Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience Associate's Degree Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree Discipline/Major: Information Technology or related discipline preferred. Pay Range (USD) $81,209-$109,871 Pay Transparency Statement The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
