Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Data Engineer - this is a hybrid role in Boston MA. Salary range: 150-250K USD plus benefits plus equity.

About this role

We are looking for a Data Engineer with ideally 3+ years of experience to design, build, and maintain data models representing simple to sophisticated revenue and financial models. You'll work with SQL, Python, DBT, and modern data pipeline tools to power a single source of truth for CFOs and Finance teams at complex businesses. Accuracy is non-negotiable – the data you deliver drives strategic financial decisions, so you must take pride in building reliable, performant, and well-tested pipelines. This is a high-impact role on a small, ambitious team where your work directly shapes the product and client outcomes.

What you will be doing

• Designing and building data models for complex revenue and financial use cases using SQL, Python, and frameworks like DBT or Mesh

• Building and maintaining highly reliable, multi-stage data pipelines using orchestration tools such as Dagster, Prefect, or Airflow

• Integrating data from Financial/ERP and CRM SaaS systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe, HubSpot) via REST APIs and file uploads

• Ensuring data accuracy, quality, and performance through rigorous testing, documentation, and AI-forward development practices

• Leveraging GPT-based technologies for data analysis, anomaly detection, and coding assistance to accelerate delivery

Requirements:

2+ years of experience building data pipelines end-to-end as a data/software engineer (Mandatory)

Experience building data pipelines as distributed systems (Mandatory)

Prior experience building and shipping as a SWE (you will be doing data and SWE work) (Mandatory)

Fintech, financial data, or general ledger (GL) experience (Nice-to-have)

Worked at an early-stage startup (Nice-to-have)

Proficient in SQL and Python (Mandatory)

Expert with modern data pipeline tools (e.g., Dagster, Airflow, DBT) (Mandatory)
