Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice. $6,000 Sign-on Bonus eligible for external new hires to the UMMH system. Major Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient's care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops, implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment according to policy and procedure. Assists physician with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
• Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
• Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
• Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

• Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

• Required: Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• Required: BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills:

• Required: Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.

Schedule Details: 2 -12 hour night shifts per week7pm-7:30amEvery 4th weekend and 3rd holiday
