Position Title: Dean of Students, Middle Department: Instructional Services Division Reports To: School Principal FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY:
The Dean of Students is responsible for promoting a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment by overseeing student discipline, behavior interventions, and student accountability. Working closely with administration, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners, the Dean of Students supports students in meeting behavioral expectations while fostering a culture of respect and responsibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Master's Degree; minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching or equivalent combination of
education/experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid South Carolina Teaching License in one of the following areas:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, instructional manuals, financial reports or governmental regulations. Ability to design and write professional development programs, reports, business correspondences, procedural manuals and data entry procedures. Ability to effectively present professional development and training and respond to questions from groups of trainees and administrators. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, employees and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of assessment data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply state and federal regulations to related academic initiatives. Ability to effectively apply knowledge of academic initiatives, programs, and services. Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. The position requires meeting deadlines, and interacting with teachers and administrators. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to work independently, with limited supervision. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet the reporting deadlines. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the school community. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes of materials. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as furniture or boxes of materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Occasionally the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer the school's student discipline program in accordance with district policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
- Investigate student misconduct and determine appropriate disciplinary
- Maintain accurate documentation of disciplinary incidents and ensure timely entry into the student information system.
- Conduct student conferences, restorative meetings, and re-entry conferences following
- Monitor behavior trends and implement proactive interventions to reduce disciplinary
- Supervise in-school suspension (ISS) and coordinate out-of-school suspension (OSS) procedures as needed.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage appropriate behavior and personal responsibility.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop behavior intervention plans.
- Identify students needing additional behavioral or social-emotional supports and make appropriate referrals.
- Participate in Student Intervention Team (SIT), MTSS, 504, and other student support meetings as appropriate.
- Assist with developing and reinforcing school-wide behavioral
- Supervise student arrival, dismissal, lunch, hallways, assemblies, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Respond promptly to student conflicts, emergencies, and behavioral
- Assist with school safety procedures and crisis
- Communicate disciplinary decisions and behavioral concerns with parents and
- Work collaboratively with teachers to address classroom management
- Provide guidance and support to staff regarding student behavior interventions and district discipline procedures.
- Assist administrators with attendance initiatives related to student
- Support implementation of PBIS, restorative practices, or other district behavior
- Perform other duties as assigned by the

- Successful experience as a teacher or school
- Knowledge of adolescent development, behavior management, and restorative
