Sr. Construction Inspector

Job Overview GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join the Construction Team in St. Louis, MO . We oversee every construction phase to help ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts. Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations. Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications. Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing. Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation. Interpret plans and specifications for the contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction. Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders. Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports. Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously. Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance. Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e‑Builder, or Transport. Qualifications High school diploma. 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on State MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects. A safety‑first mindset. Strong writing, listening and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar State MODOT certification are recommended, but not required. Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts. Ability and desire to lead. Compensation The hourly range for this role is $30.00 – $41.00 per hour, dependent on experience and geographic location. Benefits Hybrid (in‑person and remote) work environment.
