The nurse will work a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role may include picking up additional shifts as needed. There is a requirement for every other weekend work. No holiday requests are guaranteed, but can be discussed with management. The nurse will be responsible for managing a patient ratio of 1:5-6 on nights. Charge nurses will take fewer patients when fully staffed. Acute patient diagnoses may include pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, diabetes ketoacidosis, acute myocardial infarction, and sepsis. The role involves participating in various medical procedures and patient care. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with multiple services. Staffing will typically include both registered nurses and support staff. Nurses may be required to float to medical surgical departments as needed. The position allows for first-time travelers to apply. There is a strict requirement for a flu vaccine, with limited allowances for medical exemptions. References from supervisory levels are required. Candidates should be prepared for pre-employment background checks.
