ICC Certified Building Inspector - Salt Lake, Davis and Utah Counties, Utah

ICC Certified Building Inspector – Salt Lake County and Davis County, Utah Shums Coda Associates, Inc. is a privately‑held company providing professional building and safety consulting services to jurisdictions. We seek to fill full‑time Buildings Inspectors II and III and part‑time IC Inspectors for clients in the Salt Lake County and Davis County areas. Responsibilities As a Building Inspector II or III, you will: Conduct full‑scope inspections of commercial and residential projects. Perform architectural plan checks and enforce the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, and National Electrical Code. Identify hazards and violations, recommend corrective measures, and enforce regulations with firmness, consistency, tact, and courtesy. Work independently in field inspections and plan examinations. Maintain effective relationships with employees, contractors, and the public. Minimum Qualifications Utah State License required. ICC certified (combination preferred). 1+ years experience as an inspector in a jurisdiction. Working knowledge of the IBC, IRC, IMC, IPC, NEC, current construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Competent use of laptop, word‑processing, and inspection software. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Successful completion of a standard background investigation. High school diploma required; some college desirable.
