Project/Portfolio Operational Support Specialist

Blue Sky Innovative Solutions is seeking a Project/Portfolio Operational Support Specialist to support a high-visibility federal IT management and advisory services contract. You'll work alongside experienced project managers, portfolio managers, and senior technical staff in a fast-paced federal environment, keeping critical IT initiatives on track through disciplined coordination, documentation, and tool management.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and update project management artifacts including project management plans, integrated master schedules, dashboards, risk registers, and action item logs
• Support IT portfolio tracking — maintaining investment inventories, compiling metrics, and contributing to portfolio status reporting
• Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and track follow-up actions across cross-functional teams
• Administer project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, and SharePoint
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support real-time portfolio and project visibility
• Support documentation management and knowledge repository maintenance in accordance with document control best practices
• Help coordinate stakeholder communications and consolidate inputs to support alignment across government and contractor teams
• Assist with preparing deliverables to meet federal formatting, Section 508, and quality standards

What You Bring

Required:

• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency (Public Trust clearance eligibility required)
• 2–4 years of experience in project coordination, administrative support, or IT operations in a federal or professional services environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Power BI
• Hands-on experience with Jira for issue tracking and agile workflow management
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
• Customer service orientation and strong attention to detail

Preferred:

• Experience supporting federal IT programs, particularly in a health or biomedical research environment
• Familiarity with Smartsheet or MS Project
• Working knowledge of PMBOK, Agile, or federal IT lifecycle frameworks (e.g., EPLC)
• Experience with SharePoint administration or knowledge management
• Relevant certifications (CAPM, PMP, ITIL, or similar)
