Key Responsibilities of the Interventional Radiology Technologist

• Select exposure factors, position patients, and produce diagnostic quality radiologic images
• Work cooperatively with department members to resolve problems expediently
• Instruct and prepare patients for examinations and assist Radiologist during procedures
• Operate and maintain equipment, reporting malfunctions
• Complete procedures timely, assist with room turnover, and aid others when necessary
• Ensure medication security and authorized access only
• Provide healthcare services competently across all age groups
• Demonstrate proficiency in interpersonal relationships across all age groups
• Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS competently
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities
• Maintain confidentiality and good phone etiquette

Requirements of the Interventional Radiology Technologist

• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Two (2) years of experience in the field
• NYS License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• ARRT certification
• VIR Certified - preferred
