Court Operations Supervisor I

Job Description This classification level performs administrative and managerial work under the administrative direction of the presiding county judge, in the operation of a small and mid‑size county court with a total annual caseload of 3,500 or less. Responsibilities may include administrative support such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and supervising the administrative activities of the court and limited judicial functions involving non‑contested matters as assigned by the presiding county judge. Responsibilities Administers and provides oversight of court operations, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards. Supervises staff: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff training; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Evaluates efficiency of the court’s administrative functions and investigates procedural changes; prepares recommendations to the court. Administers the court budget; oversees expenditures and budgetary items ensuring all information is accessible for audit; maintains all records. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Education and Experience Associate’s Degree in judicial, public, or business administration or a related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in court administration or another business setting, including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job. All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
