This role encompasses managing nursing staff, ensuring quality patient care, implementing policies and procedures, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of healthcare delivery. The position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and professional development.Essential Work Functions:Oversees and directs nursing staff in the delivery of patient care, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standardsDevelops and implements staff schedules, assigns duties, and evaluates staff performanceProvides clinical guidance and mentorship to nursing staff, promoting professional growth and developmentCollaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and resolve complex clinical issuesMonitors and evaluates the quality of patient care, implementing improvements as necessaryManages resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and suppliesResponds to and manages emergency situations, ensuring appropriate protocols are followedParticipates in the development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and standardsEnsures compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standardsFacilitates effective communication between nursing staff, patients, families, and other healthcare team membersAddresses and resolves patient and family concerns related to nursing carePromotes a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement within the nursing departmentParticipates in budgeting and financial management for the nursing unitMaintains confidentiality of patients and staff informationPerforms other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
