Description:
The shift for this position is 19:00 - 07:30 on a 3x12 hour night schedule.
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, but this may change based on need.
Floating will be required between the CVICU and PICU units, necessitating both pediatric and adult experience.
Candidates must have ECMO specialist experience.
Patient diagnoses include post-cardiac surgery, cardiogenic shock, traumatic injury, ARDS, and respiratory failure requiring ECMO support.
Responsibilities include managing ECMO devices during bedside ECMO cannulation and/or cannula repositioning procedures.
Specialized equipment includes Cardiohelp ECMO console, Centrimag ECMO console, Cardio Quip heater-cooler unit, and glucometer for point of care testing.
Travelers will collaborate with ICU RNs and RTs, focusing on device management in the ICU, adhering to ECMO order sets and provider team directives.
Experience with critical illness situations, post-cardiac surgery care, and complex patient management is crucial.
Additional skills required include arterial line management, blood product administration, and infection prevention.
Staffing ratios are expected to be 2 patients per staff member during days and nights.
Travelers must have demonstrated competencies in the required domains and will be floating only to units for which they are qualified.
All travelers must complete required pre-assignment testing and modules before starting.
