Overview

Charlie O’s is entering an exciting new chapter, and we’re growing our team!

We’re looking for a dependable, hardworking Prep/Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role that includes preparing fresh ingredients, working the line during service, assisting with daily kitchen prep, and helping keep the kitchen clean and organized.

We’re looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in the food they prepare, and understands that a strong kitchen is built on teamwork. You should be flexible, reliable, and willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed.

This is a paid position with competitive pay based on experience and an opportunity to grow with Charlie O’s as we continue building our kitchen team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and menu items according to established recipes, portions and presentation standards
• Set up, stock and maintain assigned stations before, during and after service
• Complete daily prep including chopping, slicing, portioning, marinating and other assigned tasks
• Work the line during service, preparing orders accurately, consistently and efficiently
• Safely operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, slicers and food processors
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, labeling, dating and proper storage procedures
• Keep workstations, equipment and kitchen areas clean and organized throughout each shift
• Communicate and work closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly and orders moving on time
• Assist with receiving, stocking and rotating food and supplies as needed
• Help control food waste by following recipes, portion standards and proper storage procedures
• Assist with dishwashing, cleaning and other kitchen duties when needed
• Be dependable, flexible and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team
• Take pride in maintaining the quality and consistency of every dish served

Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a restaurant or commercial kitchen required
• Basic cooking and food preparation skills with the ability to follow recipes and portion standards
• Comfortable using knives and performing basic prep techniques including chopping, slicing and portioning
• Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation and food safety practices
• Ability to safely operate common commercial kitchen equipment
• Able to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual and ready to work when scheduled
• Able to follow direction while also taking initiative when needed
• Flexible and willing to assist with prep, line cooking, cleaning, dishes and other kitchen responsibilities as needed
• Strong attention to quality, consistency and cleanliness
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a busy kitchen
