Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most.Position OverviewThe Lead Expediter is a commissary-based role responsible for expediting orders from our central production kitchen, ensuring that all items are packed accurately, labeled correctly, and prepared properly for shipment to client locations.This role is the critical link between kitchen production and outbound logistics, ensuring that every order leaves the commissary complete, on time, and to the highest standards of quality and accuracy.We are looking for a candidate who is:Highly detail-oriented with strong quality control and order verification instinctsCalm and effective under pressure during high-volume order processing and packingA strong communicator who coordinates between the kitchen, packing, and logistics teamsCommitted to food safety, proper packaging, and shipment accuracyThe ideal candidate has strong kitchen or commissary knowledge, an eye for detail, and the organizational skills to keep order fulfillment running smoothly during peak production periods.ResponsibilitiesOrder Expediting & Quality Control (45%)Review and verify all outbound orders against order tickets and packing lists for accuracy and completenessInspect all packed items for quality, proper portioning, labeling, and temperature compliance before shipmentManage the timing and flow of order fulfillment to ensure all shipments are packed and staged on scheduleCommunicate order specifications, special dietary requirements, and modifications clearly to kitchen and packing staffLeadership & Packing Coordination (25%)Lead the pick & pack team to work efficiently and effectively.Coordinate with kitchen production and logistics teams to ensure orders are properly re-thermed, packed and ready for dispatchOversee proper packaging methods, including correct containers, insulation, and temperature controls for transitOrganize and stage completed orders by route, delivery time, and client location for efficient loadingCoordinate with the delivery team to ensure timely shipment from the commissary.Food Safety & Compliance (20%)Ensure all food leaving the commissary meets GTF quality, packaging, and labeling standardsMonitor food temperatures during packing and ensure proper cold chain management for transitSupport compliance with food safety protocols, FDA and USDA regulations, and sanitation standards in the commissaryMaintain clean, organized packing and staging areas throughout productionInventory & Operational Support (10%)Track and communicate inventory levels of packaging supplies, containers, and labelsFlag order discrepancies, shortages, or production issues to kitchen leadership promptlyTake on additional responsibilities as needed to support smooth daily commissary operationsQualificationsRequired Qualifications2-4+ years of experience in a commissary kitchen, food production, or high-volume food packing environmentStrong knowledge of food packing, portioning, labeling, and shipment preparationExcellent communication and organizational skillsAbility to remain calm, focused, and effective during high-volume order fulfillmentA commitment to personal accountability and continuous learningFood Handler's certification or willingness to obtainPreferred QualificationsExperience in commissary operations, central kitchen production, or high-volume food distributionPrevious expediting, warehouse, or order fulfillment leadership experienceFamiliarity with inventory management or order tracking systemsKnowledge of food safety regulations, cold chain management, and NYC Department of Health requirementsKey CompetenciesQuality control and attention to detailOrder accuracy and thoroughnessCross-team coordinationFood safety and cold chain awarenessAdaptability and problem-solvingRole DetailsTitle: Lead ExpediterLocation: Onsite, GTF Commissary (Brooklyn, NY)Schedule: Monday to Friday; early morning start times; occasional weekends as neededReports to: Commissary Kitchen ManagerCompensation: $22-25/hourBenefitsMedical insuranceSick leavePaid time off that increases with tenure401(k)Daily family mealPotential for bonuses through our Green Shares employee bonus programEligibility and details subject to company policyGreen Top Farms is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
