Registered Nurse - Medical Specialties

Shift and Compensation Shift: Various full‑time shifts 0700‑1930 and 1900‑0730, both 36 hour per week and 30 hour per week options. Department: Medical Specialties / Adult Medical. Compensation: Base Pay Range: $34.46–$51.02 per hour, based on experience. Shift Differentials: Additional $4.00 per hour for night shift, $3.00 per hour for weekend shift, or $8.00 per hour for weekend program shift (if available). Sign‑On Bonus: $25,000. Job Overview MU Health Care is looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our nursing team. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in assessing and meeting the varied needs of our patients. Your ability to connect on a personal level and understand the unique physical, emotional, and rehabilitative requirements of each patient will be crucial. You will evaluate nursing interventions, uphold hospital standards and policies, and collaborate with physicians and nursing supervisors to provide exceptional, holistic, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative patient needs, including discharge planning. Intervene promptly in response to the patient's self‑report and symptoms of pain, utilizing an appropriate assessment tool (0‑10 numerical scale, FACES, or FLACC). Demonstrate an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects; report pertinent information and educate patients and significant others about their medications. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes. Maintain nursing care standards and implement hospital and unit policies and procedures. Participate in meetings, in‑services, and quality and performance improvement groups; adhere to attendance, punctuality, and dress code guidelines. Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person and record those observations accurately and concisely. Provide quality patient care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest patient satisfaction. Complete unit/department‑specific duties as outlined in department documents. Required Qualifications Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi‑state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under a new state of residency within thirty (30) days. One (1) year of RN experience. Preferred Qualifications Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical Demands The position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. The role also routinely involves contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. The job is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
