The Putney School is seeking a full-time Facilities Supervisor to begin working as soon as possible. The Facilities Supervisor is a key member of Putney's Facilities Department. This position assists the Director in overseeing daily campus operations, preventive maintenance, and vendor management. This role ensures that all academic buildings, athletic facilities, and grounds are safe, compliant, and fully functional while supervising the maintenance and custodial teams.

The Facilities Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Facilities and is a 12-month, in-person, exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and train the maintenance and custodial staff, including assisting with performance evaluations and fostering a productive work environment.
• Prioritize and coordinate daily work order and staff assignments.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and projects.
• Ensure the campus meets local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and ADA standards. 
• Oversee and participate in snow removal, emergency response protocols (including winter road maintenance), and maintenance of school grounds, landscaping, trees, shrubs and outdoor facilities.
• Oversee and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and replacements on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, flooring, and related building systems; maintain security and fire alarm systems.
• Operate vehicles, trucks, tractors, snowplows, snow blowers, salt spreaders and other maintenance equipment.
• Coordinate logistics and facility setups for school assemblies, athletic games, and special campus events.
• Monitor maintenance supply levels and ensure parts and equipment orders are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Serve on a rotating night and weekend on-call schedule to manage urgent campus maintenance issues, utility failures, or severe weather emergencies.
• Attend meetings and complete training classes as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Salary range of $65,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems; vocational training preferred. 
• Two or more years of supervisory experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, operate maintenance tools and equipment, and use computer software for work orders and records.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds with assistance, work from ladders and lifts, and perform duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to equipment, machinery, heights and other maintenance-related hazards may occur (i.e. dust, fumes, odors, noise, crowds, etc.)
• Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
• Ability to pass a criminal-background check and authorization to work in the United States are required.
