Experienced Fire Service Technician

Responsibilities Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and assess equipment or system malfunctions. Contact customers, determine equipment and system issues, diagnose problems, and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at their sites. Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures, referencing technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, modification notices, and other documentation to repair equipment. Service, troubleshoot, and install multiple manufacturers’ fire and life‑safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operational product manuals. Demonstrate excellent customer service, consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction. Complete service acknowledgments with proper coding using communication devices such as smartphones and laptops, and obtain customer signatures upon call completion. Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and help train or mentor other service team members. Provide customers with solutions and outcomes at the time of service, including UPS‑selling opportunities and quotes to support recommendations. Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels. Maintain documentation of tasks, activity, and productivity in a timely manner. Work on‑call and after‑hours as required by customer needs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems. Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. Good working knowledge of computers and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Physical capability to lift 50‑70 lbs, climb ladders, use scaffolding, lift equipment up to 40 ft, work within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings. Flexibility to work weekends and travel overnight as required. High level of customer service skills. Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs. Adherence to and implementation of safety guidelines and procedures. Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and quick learning ability. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting company requirements. Retention of any licenses required by national, state, and local codes. Preferred Qualifications Technical training in NICET II or equivalent is preferred. Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is advantageous. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate $16.00–$31.73, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and aligned with market data. Competitive benefits package included.
