Job Title: Reno / Service Technician

Job Description

This role performs a wide range of skilled and semi‑skilled tasks related to the cleaning, renovation, maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the interior and exterior of residential units across the Ontario area. The position involves hands-on work in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, masonry, and appliance repair and installation, ensuring units are safe, functional, and presentable for residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, alterations, and general upkeep of residential units, both inside and outside, to maintain a safe and attractive living environment.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks in carpentry, including framing, trim work, and general structural repairs as needed.
• Complete electrical work such as basic wiring, installing or repairing fixtures, and running conduit in accordance with safety standards.
• Perform plumbing tasks including installing, repairing, or replacing pipes, fittings, and fixtures to ensure proper water flow and drainage.
• Handle HVAC-related duties such as basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs to heating and cooling systems.
• Conduct painting work, including surface preparation, priming, and finishing to achieve clean, professional results on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
• Repair and install drywall, including patching, taping, mudding, and sanding to restore walls and ceilings to a finished condition.
• Perform masonry-related repairs and minor installations as required to maintain building exteriors and structural elements.
• Install, maintain, and repair household appliances to ensure they operate safely and reliably for residents.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, finish nail guns, grinders, and other standard construction tools.
• Travel to various residential locations throughout the surrounding Ontario area and Inland Empire to complete scheduled work orders and service requests.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and residents, providing updates on work status and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Follow established safety procedures and guidelines while working on electrical, plumbing, and construction tasks to minimize risk and maintain a safe job site.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of tools, materials, and equipment after each job.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in at least two of the following core skills: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and drywall repair.
• Ability to perform residential painting with attention to detail and quality of finish.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with a variety of building systems and components.
• Experience using hand and power tools, including sawzall, cordless drill or impact, finish nail gun, and grinder.
• Basic knowledge of construction practices and building maintenance.
• Capability to work under general supervision while managing assigned tasks independently.
• Willingness to learn new skills and techniques related to residential maintenance and renovation.
• Strong, positive attitude and reliability in showing up and completing assigned work.
• Clear and respectful communication skills with coworkers and residents.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bilingual ability is a plus and can enhance communication with a diverse resident population.
• Experience with HVAC maintenance and minor repairs is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Inland Empire and surrounding Ontario area for efficient travel between job sites.
• Comfort working across multiple trades, adapting to different types of repair and renovation projects.

Work Environment

The role follows a Monday–Friday work schedule, with assignments at residential properties throughout the Inland Empire and surrounding Ontario area. Work is primarily field-based, requiring travel between different job sites during the week. The environment is hands-on and tool-intensive, involving regular use of hand and power tools such as sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, finish nail guns, grinders, and other construction equipment. You will work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the unit and type of repair, and should be prepared for typical residential maintenance conditions, including light construction settings and active job sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ontario, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
