Work Environment

The Emergency Room is designated as a Level III Trauma Center and treats an average of 70 patients per day, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4, depending on patient acuity. The unit comprises 18 beds and features 4 critical rooms utilized for trauma or codes.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room.
• Assessing and monitoring patient conditions.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participating in unit-based activities and precepting as necessary.
• Floating to other areas as required, with first-time travelers expected to assist.

Preferences

• Candidates should have experience in pediatrics, cardiac emergencies, STEMIs, strokes, and general emergency care.
• Familiarity with all common drips administered in the ER is required.

Additional Information

• Unit orientation lasts between 1 to 3 shifts, tailored to individual experiences.
• Security is present 24/7 within the ER.
• RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips, as no monitor techs are available in-house.
• All related lab draws will be performed by dedicated phlebotomy staff.
