Job Title: Clinical Resource Nurse Profession: Non-bedside Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Saturday and Sunday Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Two (2) years of related experience License: Valid multi-state or Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Behavioral Health Experience De-Escalation Techniques Description: The BHU Resource RN will provide professional quality psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized with psychiatric/emotional disorders according to hospital policies and procedures. The role involves assessing, organizing, and completing patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Active participation in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans is required. The RN will develop therapeutic relationships with assigned patients to coordinate psychosocial treatment with standardized nursing care and guidance. Maintaining and reviewing patients' records, including posting test and examination results, is essential. Facilitating patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals and utilizing patient education resources that are suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors is a responsibility. Collaboration with other disciplines is expected as appropriate. The RN will support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Other duties may be assigned. Independent judgment is used in making decisions from many diversified alternatives, which are subject to general review in the final stages only. The role requires coordination of activities with others and leading peers in the same work performed. Input on performance evaluations may be provided, though the RN does not prepare or give them. Direct interaction with patients and/or customers is integral to the role. Working with internal and external customers via phone or face-to-face interaction is common. The RN will frequently collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff. Interaction with individuals at the Director level or above occurs regularly. Required skills include a working knowledge of general disease management processes, the bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are critical. The ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently is necessary. Attention to detail is required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
