Hands-On Manufacturing Engineering

We're recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer - Automation & Advanced Processes for a medical device manufacturing operation in Watertown, CT.

This is a hands-on plant engineering role for someone who enjoys being close to the equipment- troubleshooting problems, improving manufacturing processes, working with automation, and figuring out why something isn't running the way it should.

The manufacturing environment includes CNC equipment, robotics, machine vision, vacuum heat treatment, laser processing, and a variety of automated finishing and inspection processes.

You don't need to be an expert in every technology on day one. We're looking for a strong manufacturing engineer with the mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability to work across a diverse range of equipment and processes.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work directly with Operations, Quality, equipment suppliers, and other technical resources to improve equipment performance, process reliability, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

our responsibilities will include:

• Support and optimize vacuum heat-treatment processes , including furnace programming, heat-treat cycle development, and equipment troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot and improve CNC milling and trimming processes , including tooling, workholding, alignment, feeding systems, and overall process performance
• Program and troubleshoot SCARA robots, bowl feeders, automated equipment, and pneumatic controls
• Configure, tune, and troubleshoot Keyence vision and camera inspection systems
• Support automated processes including laser etching, electropolishing, passivation, cleaning, coating, inspection, and finishing
• Diagnose equipment and process problems and coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance
• Analyze product-quality feedback and translate it into practical manufacturing improvements
• Create SolidWorks models and 2D drawings for tooling, equipment, and process improvements
• Work with Operations, Quality, contractors, and equipment suppliers to resolve technical problems and improve manufacturing performance

What We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will have a combination of hands-on manufacturing engineering, equipment troubleshooting, automation, and process-improvement experience.

Ideal experience includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
• Hands-on manufacturing engineering, equipment, or process troubleshooting experience
• Experience working with one or more of the following:
• Automated manufacturing equipment
• CNC machining
• Robotics
• Machine vision
• Heat treatment
• PLC-controlled equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing problem-solving skills
• Ability to work comfortably on the manufacturing floor and troubleshoot equipment directly
• Experience designing or modifying tooling, fixtures, or mechanical components
• Experience with CAD; SolidWorks is preferred

Experience with Keyence vision systems, SCARA robotics, IPSEN vacuum furnaces, or similar technologies is a plus, but we're more interested in someone who understands manufacturing equipment and knows how to solve problems than someone who happens to check every equipment-specific box.
