HVAC Technician 3

Responsibilities Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on all HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps. Operate, maintain, and upgrade Building Automation Software and controls, including pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive systems. Oversee HVAC air distribution systems, such as air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices. Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments for mechanical services and maintenance. Provide guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to junior technicians, supporting their development and training. Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours assignments as required. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities and system performance. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support facility operations. Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role. Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred. Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class. Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments. Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls. Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software. Ability to satisfactorily complete any required client background checks or training. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred. Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred. OSHA certification preferred.
