Post Anesthesia Care - Nurse

PACU Location: Moses Lake, Washington Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5 Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension Pay Rate: $60 - $65/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PACU for a temporary assignment in Moses Lake, Washington. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a PACU:

• Function as both a caregiver and care manager, assuming responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process
• Direct and oversee the work of other caregivers (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes
• Perform assessment and data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status
• Implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner utilizing pre-determined procedures, policies, and care plans
• Identify patient and significant other learning needs and readiness for learning; implement patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans
• Document in patient charts via electronic medical records and/or paper processes per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements
• Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to patient, significant other, and family rights regardless of race, age, religion, color, creed, sex, national origin, or any other protected classification
• Demonstrate appropriate delegation of patient care activities and effectively supervise assigned coworkers
• Demonstrate effective organization and priority setting utilizing sound critical thinking
• Demonstrate appropriate use of lines of authority
• May be required to function as a Charge Nurse, including delegation of patient assignments, assisting with admits/discharges/transfers, coordinating staff coverage, and serving as a unit lead
• Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current in field of expertise
• Function with awareness of and adherence to safety requirements including security, MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting, and body mechanics
• Ensure compliance with organization policies, procedures, and labor agreements
• Maintain current Washington State RN Licensure
• Maintain HCP-level BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or equivalent) within 30 days of hire
• Obtain ACLS (AHA Advanced Life Support) certification within 6 months of hire, renewed every 2 years (PACU)
• Obtain PALS or PEARS certification within 6 months of hire, renewed every 2 years (PACU)
• CPAN certification preferred (PACU)
• Complete 4 hours of Total Joint Program orientation training and 4 hours of annual training
• Follow the pathway for total joint replacement dependent on area of specialty
• Demonstrate competency in caring for patients across the age continuum
• Apply critical thinking skills including independent problem solving and logical, deliberate decision-making
• Practice within legal and ethical guidelines and demonstrate accountability
• Demonstrate crisis management capabilities
• Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets standards necessary to perform job functions
