Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Intellectual Disabilities
Location: Salt Lake County
About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and experienced Direct Support Professionals to support individuals experiencing intellectual disabilities. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact while fostering independence and life skills in the people we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
- Support participation in community activities and recreation.
- Accompany individuals to appointments, shopping, and social outings as needed.
- Encourage skill-building for community engagement, such as money management, transportation use, and social interaction.
- Implement and document individualized support plans (ISP outcomes).
- Teach and reinforce skills that promote independence, including cooking, budgeting, and personal safety.
- Support communication and self-advocacy efforts.
- Promptly report any incidents, changes in condition, or concerns to supervisors.
Requirements
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Clear background check
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience
Qualifications & Skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
