Senior Substation Physical Designer

Job DescriptionSenior Substation Physical Designer Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Senior Substation Physical Designer for our client’s operation near Reading, PA. This is a contract position with competitive pay. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on state-of-the-art projects. Responsibilities: Prepare scaled physical electrical drawings for high voltage substation projects such as one line diagrams, general arrangements, plan views and elevation views, grounding plans and details, conduit plans and details, with minimal amount of supervision and engineering input. Develop a complete design drawing package for checking or check the design drawing packages prepared by others. Interface with other disciplines in the development of the drawing package. Create and/or review bills of material, conduit, and cable schedules for ubstation projects. Work closely with engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems. Read and interpret vendor supplied drawings, construction specifications and other project related documents. Works in a team environment, takes direction from the lead engineer and creates project drawings. Work at times with limited direction and have the ability to assist with conceptualizing layouts using go-by information. Effective technical and practical electrical design and drafting skills ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients. Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed. Qualifications: Extensive Substation design experience Associate Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design / Drafting with discipline specific training. Understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards and industry standard practices. Proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation. 3D CAD is a plus. Proficiency with the manipulation of scaled vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards. Familiarity with electrical design codes and standards. Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel and Access). Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and be able to work independently.
