Staff Firmware Engineer

The HT Group is partnering with a client to hire a Staff Firmware Engineer on a full-time basis, joining a small, high-impact R&D team building a next-generation IoT platform. This senior individual contributor will help finish a flagship program and grow into broader platform ownership as the team's technical scope expands.

Austin, TX with hybrid work flexibility
What you'll do
- Own firmware execution on state-pattern FSMs, HAL boundaries, driver integration, board bring-up, and test readiness
- Partner with the current firmware DRI and an architecture advisor to ramp into greater technical ownership
- Bring disciplined engineering practices: design notes/ADRs, thorough code review, strong test coverage, early risk escalation
- Grow into ownership of follow-on product lines as a senior technical contributor
- Demonstrated embedded C/C++ delivery on shipped, production hardware
- Hardware bring-up experience: drivers, HAL, board-level debug, low-level integration
- Comfort with state-pattern or event-driven design
- Strong collaboration habits and cross-functional experience with hardware, mechanical, test, and quality teams
- Comfortable operating as a senior IC on a small team
