CT Technologist (Computed Tomography) Detroit, MI

A CT Technologist in a Level I Trauma Center performs computerized tomographic radiological procedures under general supervision. The role prepares and positions patients, reviews clinical data, operates CT equipment, and administers intravenous contrast media as appropriate. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating shifts (7a6p days, 3pflexible afternoons, and 6p6a midnights) with weekend coverage required every other weekend; minimum 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Basic Life Support (BLS); registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible; American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (CT); 2 years of experience; demonstrated competency in computerized tomographic radiological procedures, general diagnostic radiology, patient preparation, clinical data review, CT scan operation, intravenous contrast media administration, sterile equipment setup, and radiation protection principles.
• Preferred Qualifications: Pacs image management; RIs study indexing; clinical protocol review; medical record documentation; customer service; openness to new learning experiences; communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, respect, excellence, teamwork, self-direction, flexibility, team concept commitment, initiative, willingness to learn, and diversity acceptance.
• Responsibilities:
  • Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for CT imaging.
  • Reviews clinical data and requisitions, obtains additional patient medical history as needed, and prepares the procedure room by replenishing linens and supplies.
  • Analyzes anatomical structures, sets up equipment, performs CT scans, and manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
  • Administers intravenous contrast media (including use of power injectors), monitors for possible reactions, and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs.
  • Prepares sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies as required; ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
  • Assists the radiologist with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
  • Demonstrates radiation protection principles, including shielding, appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, and other ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) techniques.
  • Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), including viewing images into PACS and confirming image/series counts.
  • Completes study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS), including study begin, study end, and completion.
  • Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the radiologist as necessary before performing the study.
  • Maintains consistent team member standards of excellence, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You), open communication, timely responsiveness, positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity.
  • Completes required documentation in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
