Member of Technical Staff, AI/ML Engineering

Role Overview

Build and optimize advanced AI systems centered on large language models. In this full-time, remote engineering role, you will turn complex quantitative problems into scalable products while contributing to training data, evaluations, and feedback loops that improve how AI systems learn, reason, and perform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI/ML solutions using LLMs, Python, and AWS infrastructure.
• Architect scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices with FastAPI.
• Integrate LangChain and advanced AI frameworks to support innovative model interactions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to convert mathematical, statistical, and physics-based problem statements into practical engineering solutions.
• Apply expertise in mathematics, statistics, or physics to improve model performance, interpretability, and reliability.
• Maintain strong standards for code quality, documentation, and peer review within a fast-paced core team.
• Clearly communicate technical concepts and project progress in writing and in discussion.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or demonstrated expertise in mathematics, quantitative sciences, statistics, or physics.
• Expert-level Python proficiency for AI/ML engineering.
• Hands-on experience deploying, fine-tuning, and integrating LLMs.
• Strong AWS and cloud-native machine learning workflow experience.
• Proven experience using LangChain to chain LLMs and orchestrate multi-step reasoning.
• Strong command of FastAPI for scalable API development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering production AI/ML solutions at scale.
• Publications or open-source contributions in AI/ML, applied mathematics, or computational science.
• Familiarity with advanced prompt engineering or AI safety practices.

Work Terms

• Full-time, remote position.

Compensation

• The listed annual compensation range is $400, 000 to $800, 000.
• The stated national base-salary range is $200, 000 to $260, 000 USD.
