Science And Innovation Manager

ITA International is seeking a Science and Innovation Manager to be a Thrust Leader for Energy, Environment and Sustainability joining the team in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

• Establish technical priorities and research strategies that align ITA's environment and sustainability capabilities with federal agency priorities, emerging environmental challenges, and customer needs.
• Identify emerging technologies, methodologies, analytical approaches, and scientific advances that can be incorporated into ITA's programs and service offerings.
• Translate scientific and technical advances into practical solutions, tools, methodologies, and capabilities that address client and mission requirements.
• Establish and maintain collaborations with federal agencies, universities, research institutions, industry partners, and other technical organizations to advance ITA's research capabilities and identify opportunities for collaboration and funding.
• Publish and present technical findings, as appropriate, through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, conferences, workshops, and professional forums to enhance ITA's technical reputation and visibility.
• Foster a culture of scientific rigor, innovation, collaboration, and continuous technical advancement across ITA's environmental science portfolio.

Customer Solutions:

• Lead efforts to expand environment and sustainability business opportunities and position ITA for sustained growth, with a primary focus on federal contracts, grants, research programs, and other government funding opportunities.
• Proactively identify, research, and evaluate federal funding opportunities aligned with ITA's capabilities, strategic objectives, and growth priorities.
• Monitor federal agency priorities, strategic plans, funding forecasts, solicitations, and emerging initiatives to identify and prioritize new business opportunities.
• Develop and execute capture strategies for high-priority federal opportunities, including identification of customer needs, competitive positioning, teaming strategies, and win themes.
• Develop compliant and compelling proposals.
• Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with federal agencies, program managers, academia, industry partners, and other organizations to expand ITA's access to funding opportunities and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Represent ITA at federal agency meetings, environmental science conferences, technical workshops, industry events, and professional organizations to identify emerging requirements and funding opportunities.
• Monitor emerging environmental science technologies, research priorities, regulatory initiatives, and federal environmental programs to identify opportunities for new services and capabilities.
• Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in positioning ITA for future growth, with a strong emphasis on proactive federal opportunity identification, capture, and proposal development.

Program Oversight and Management:

• Work closely with ITA's leadership team and cross-functional divisions to oversee a diverse portfolio of environment and sustainability projects supporting federal, defense, state, academic, and other government clients.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, technical, regulatory, and quality requirements.
• Lead effective project start-up, including development of project management plans, staffing strategies, schedules, budgets, risk-management approaches, and performance metrics.
• Ensure projects deliver measurable technical outcomes, mission impact, and value to clients while maintaining strong cost control and fiscal accountability.
• Monitor project performance, identify emerging risks and challenges, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule, budget, scope, and quality objectives.
• Maintain proactive and constructive communication with clients, federal program managers, project partners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Please note, candidates with significant leadership experience, broader organizational scope, or a track record of driving strategic initiatives may be considered for a Director level opportunity.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Toxicology, Atmospheric Science, Materials Science, Public Health, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline; PhD preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment.
• Experience managing technical teams on a variety of research projects.
• Experience growing business with a focus on consultative customer partnerships.
• Exhibited track record in acquiring federal contracts and/or research funding; multi-million dollar funding acquisition total is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated record of technical publications, conference presentations, research reports, or other contributions to the environmental science field is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, business development, technical staff, and program managers to align technical strategy, funding strategy, and organizational growth objectives.

Pay range for this position is $100,000 - $136,000 annually.

This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
