This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work closely with residents, empowering them to thrive at home and in their community while growing your career in human services.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide training and assistance to individuals in order to help them develop and/or improve independent living skills such as cooking, housekeeping, laundry skills, grocery shopping, etc.Provide assistance and training to individuals to assist them in developing and/or improving personal care skills; i.e. showering, toothbrushing, toileting, bathing, etc.Provide supervision to individuals at the residence and in the community as appropriate.Provide training in money management such as budgeting, banking, and making appropriate purchases.Complete all documentation and records accurately and within appropriate time frames; T-logs, Habilitation plans, Progress reports and any other assigned documentation.Due to the critical nature of our Agency's work, and required 24-hour coverage, the Residential Program always remains open it is imperative and expected that all employees (Residential & Day Habilitation) make every effort to report to work in the event of inclement weather, including, but not limited to, snow, ice, freezing rain, or flood. Employees should also make every effort to remain at work in the event inclement weather occurs during their work schedule until relieved of duty by the following shift.This position will at times require you to travel or transfer between one work location/site and another per a supervisors request. Approved transportation with personal vehicles is reimbursable at the per mile rate set by IRS guidelines. Mileage, from a regularly assigned place of work to a temporarily assigned place of work can submitted for reimbursement.Administer resident medications and logging according to procedure.Accompany residents to grocery stores and other stores for on-site training in purchasing.Perform/participate in assessment and service plan development and implementation.Transport residents and supervise on appointments, recreational and/or other activities as needed. This includes but is not limited to following all policies and procedures specific to recreational/community activities.Keep supervisor informed of any residents' health and safety issues.Assist residents with or, if necessary, completing daily or routine domestic tasks.Maintain the residence by cleaning as instructed by the supervisor any part of the house and/or its contents.Adhere to Part 633 and Part 624 Regulations related to Consumer Rights, Abuse and Reporting.Requirements:At Minimum High School diploma or GEDPossess a valid NY State driver's license acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier.Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift fifty (50) pounds experienceSome knowledge of or experience working with developmentally disabled preferred.
