Job Description

DYS is seeking a Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion to habilitate youth. Specifically, the Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 will:

• Within scope of license, provide behavioral health services for assigned caseload of youth at Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility (e.g., assessments; treatment planning; individual, group, and/or family interventions/session; crisis intervention); provide liaison services (e.g., with family, regional office, juvenile parole officers, release authority, school, courts, and other community support services).
• Complete discharges and aftercare planning; provide facility orientation (e.g., treatment and behavioral health expectations; grievance system; how to access mental health, legal, and medical services); provide orientation to parents/guardians of newly committed youth.
• Represent Behavioral Healthcare Services on Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT); coordinate presence/participation of all team members (e.g., parents/guardians, parole officers, appropriate facility staff); gather necessary documentation and reports; participate in case staffing; document clinical summary of meeting; establish and maintain working relationship with other facilities, agencies, and support services.
• Contact parent/guardian in emergencies, crises, transfers, etc.; meet with and answer questions for visitors regarding programming.
• Access, develop, maintain, and synthesize written and/or electronic documentation in compliance with DYS policies to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies; progress notes; facility and community reports pertaining to youth's case.
• Attend departmental and inter-departmental meetings as assigned; attend court hearings as needed; maintain professional growth through participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. - Or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board. - Or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board. - Or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board. - Or Licensed Registered Nurse with practice specialty certificate in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing. - Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Psychology or other mental health related field. - Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Nursing with a Mental Health of Psychiatric Nursing concentrate. Supplemental Information

Background Check Notice: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must complete a mandatory 6 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at CJCF, weeks 2 through 4 are held at DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Weeks 5 - 6 are on the job training held at CJCF.
