Database Installation and Configuration: Installing, configuring, and upgrading Teradata database systems, including software and utilities.

Advanced Responsibilities:

Performance Tuning and Optimization: Deep diving into SQL query optimization, analyzing explain plans, and implementing advanced techniques (e.g., join indexes, partitioning) to enhance system performance.

Workload Management (TWM/TDWM): Designing, configuring, and managing Teradata Workload Manager rules to prioritize queries, manage concurrency, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs).

Capacity Planning and Growth Management: Analyzing historical usage patterns, forecasting future growth, and planning for hardware and software upgrades to meet evolving business needs.

Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing: Developing, documenting, and regularly testing comprehensive disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of a major outage.

Advanced Security and Compliance: Implementing advanced security features (e.g., encryption, auditing, row-level security), ensuring compliance with data governance policies, and conducting security audits.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Proficiency in Scripting Languages (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting): While automation was mentioned, advanced scripting skills allow for more sophisticated custom monitoring, reporting, and proactive problem-solving beyond standard tools.

Cloud Platform Familiarity (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud): With Teradata Vantage often deployed on cloud platforms, understanding cloud infrastructure, networking, and security concepts within these environments is increasingly valuable.
