Details Medical Surgical unit with a 57-bed max capacity servicing internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses Rooms equipped with video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30 36 or 48 hour contracts available Average patient ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with occasional increases to 1:6 days and 1:7 nights Required to float to MS and MS/Tele units, including as Patient Observer/Sitter when needed Cerner charting preferred but not required Requirements Active MO or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration BLS certification required; CPI preferred 1.5-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line and port management preferred Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience Experience with PCA medications, renal failure management, and surgical drain care Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs Additional Information Provide direct patient care to internal medicine patients with a wide range of medical diagnoses Position is within a healthcare facility operating 24/7, 365 days a year, with routine contact with contagious illnesses Rotating shifts, weekend work, and work during inclement weather required Must work 50% of holidays falling within the contract term; RTO not granted for holidays but scheduling flexibility offered to meet requirement Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible for consideration Candidates residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a reduced local rate First-time travelers are welcome to apply Travelers may work up to three consecutive 13-week contracts (up to 9 months), followed by a mandatory 6-month break before returning in an agency capacity Non-billable orientation and annual training modules required, averaging 4-6 hours and varying by specialty American Traveler Job ID P-768331.
