Relocation Assistance (based on eligibility) Abdominal Transplant (6DCT) Unit The unit is comprised of 37 beds and provides exemplary care for patients in various transplant categories including Pre‑Liver Transplant, Liver Transplant, Kidney Transplant, Pancreas Transplant, Small Bowel Transplant and Hand Transplant. Department Highlights Strengths in teamwork, multi‑disciplinary collaboration and professional respect - we offer a dynamic environment for professional development. Procedures/treatments frequently performed include diabetes management, pain management, wound care, telemetry, oxygen therapy, blood product administration, and IV management of fluids and medications. Affords the clinical experience to attain strong critical thinking skills, vast knowledge of disease processes and body systems, and robust care management skills. The unit cares for patients throughout the entirety of their transplant experience from inpatient pre‑transplant care, to index transplant stay, and on any readmission, fostering strong relationships and continuity of care. Daily multidisciplinary transplant rounds encompass all care providers involved with the patient, including case management, surgery, medicine, advanced practice providers, transplant coordinators, and nursing. Duties and Responsibilities Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Guide nursing care by physician orders and nursing plan of care, and report patient responses for plan adjustments. Assist in performance of diagnostic procedures, nursing procedures, and application of priorities. Contribute to development and implementation of general policies and procedures fostering patient safety and comfort; participate in new policy formulation. Maintain environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in improvement activities. Control material resources, assess equipment effectiveness, and report malfunctions to charge nurse. Participate in in‑service education programs and conferences within the service. Assist in training new employees. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications Education: Graduation from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program. No prior experience required. Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). BLS required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of scope of licensed practical nurse and ability to delegate to nursing support staff. Considerable knowledge of patient care and special procedures applicable to practical nursing. Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate. Clear communication with patients, families, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, and others. Ability to teach patients and families per nursing plan of care. Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process, prioritize information, treatment, and follow‑up. Competency in BLS and/or other specialized life support as required. Fine motor skills; record activities and document interventions. Computer proficiency and learning new software. Navigate the facility to deliver clinical care. Physical endurance for prolonged standing and walking. Remain focused and organized. Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures. Working knowledge of procedures for routine and special patient treatments. Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions. Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
