Production Operator

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Carry out all production operations as defined by the shift leader. 2. Report all accidents, upset conditions, and near misses to the shift leader immediately. 3. Work with the shift leader to provide proper shift coverage. This includes vacations, illnesses, and OT. 4. Focus on plant housekeeping. Before the end of the shift all areas free of debris and trash, equipment put away, and all containers labeled. 5. Report all spills, unintended discharges to the sump, etc to the shift leader immediately. 6. Ensure all documentation (batch sheets, loading and unloading checklists, receiving paperwork, etc) are filled out completely and correctly. 7. Understanding of all alarms and the correct path forward given each alarm. 8. Provide suggestions for process or equipment improvements. 9. Provide recommendations on a regular basis to HSE Engineer. 10. Always approach your job with the principle that all incidents are preventable. To that end you need to keep the following aspects in mind: 11. Always perform your job in a sound HS&E manner to protect yourself and those around you. 12. Risk assessment is a mind set, where you are always assessing hazards and thinking about means to avoid those hazards. Take a proactive approach to maintain excellence in all your assignments. 13. Be aware of your state of mind (rushing, frustration, fatigue & complacency) that leads to distractions from the task on hand. Those distractions lead to errors, resulting in unwanted incidents. 14. Attend and complete all required training. 15. Job completion means Good Housekeeping, filling necessary reports, and watching for your safety and those around you. 16. Your Personal Protective Equipment is the most important tool you have as a professional chemical industry worker. Maintain and clean it properly. 17. Participation leads to ownership. Get involved as often as you can. SKILLS: 1. Able to clearly communicate needs and concerns inside and outside of their shift 2. Safety minded 3. Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate with varying functional leaders both internally and externally 4. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite 5. Good written and verbal skills. 6. Ability to work in a team environment. 7. Must have the ability to learn new programs and software as needed 8. Must have the ability to work under pressure and change assignments quickly 9. Must be able to communicate information with others verbally and in written forms 10. Must have basic mathematical skills 11. Basic problem solving skills 12. Organizational skills 13. Quick and well-coordinated in movement of the hands 14. Must read and understand written procedures (SOP's) and/or verbal instruction 15. Ability to work independently with occasional assistance 16. Ability to take ownership for general processes/products 17. The ability to meet deadlines and targets. 18. Must have basic understanding of Production Schedules OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be punctual and meet attendance requirements. 2. Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice. 3. Available to work all shifts. Plant operates on a 24/7 basis. Shifts consist of 12 hours. (For example: following a "2 day on/ 2 day off/ 3 day on/2 day off/2 days on/ 3 day off" rotation).
