Per-Diem Specialty Clinical Associate Medical Intensivist

The University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for a Per-Diem Specialty Clinical Associate Medical Intensivist position for ICU/SDU coverage. Duties will include clinical service primarily at the UCI site in Los Alamitos Hospital. The successful candidate must be board eligible/certified in critical care medicine, and licensed/eligible in California.

Clinical responsibilities will involve:

• Direct Patient Care
• Perform and supervise critical care procedures
• Lead daily multidisciplinary ICU rounds

Consultation and Collaboration

• Serve as the attending intensivist
• Provide critical care consultation
• Collaborate closely with hospital staff

Clinical Oversight and Supervision

• Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers
• Ensure evidence-based practice standards

Communication

• Engage in frequent communication with patients' families
• Participate in family meetings

Quality, Safety, and System Roles

• Contribute to ICU quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in ICU administrative duties

Continuity of Care

• Ensure appropriate documentation and handoff of ICU patients

Required:

• Candidates must possess an M.D./ D.O. (or equivalent) degree.
• Board-certified or eligible in the field of Critical Care Medicine
• Active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification
• Eligible for California licensure
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes.
• Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in the care of patients.
• Experienced in providing and/or oversight of care

Benefits eligible base salary compensation based on Critical Care benchmarks for a Specialty Clinical Associate within this specialty is $250/hr - $281/hr. In addition, candidates have the potential to earn incentives on top of their base salary contingent on performance and experience.
