Transmission Line Engineer

Trident Consulting is seeking a Transmission Engineer for one of our client in Oakland, CA (Hybrid 3 days) A global leader in business and technology services. Please find additional details about the role below: Title: Transmission Engineer Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid 3 days) Type: Contract (Potentially converted into Full Time) Pay rate: $76/hr on W2 (All inclusive) Duration: Long Term Job Summary We are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to lead the engineering and design of complex electrical transmission projects. This journey-level role is responsible for performing engineering analyses, developing technical designs, reviewing consultant deliverables, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and utility standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-voltage transmission line engineering, project coordination, and transmission design tools. Key Responsibilities Lead the engineering and design of electrical transmission line projects with minimal supervision. Perform engineering analyses, technical studies, conceptual designs, and feasibility assessments. Develop design criteria, engineering calculations, technical specifications, scope documents, and reports. Conduct field walkdowns, site assessments, and design review meetings. Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders throughout project execution. Develop, evaluate, and recommend engineering solutions and alternative project approaches. Review consultant engineering designs, contracts, and technical deliverables for compliance. Interpret and apply applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Approve engineering reports, design drawings, and drawing revisions. Support restoration planning, root cause analysis, and emergency response activities. Represent the organization during meetings with regulatory agencies and government entities. Travel to project sites and meetings as required (approximately 20%). Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Minimum 3 years of engineering and design experience. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and technical documentation. Experience preparing engineering reports, specifications, calculations, and design packages. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Electrical Transmission Line Engineering (115kV–500kV) . Knowledge of GO 95 , NESC , and utility transmission line design standards. Experience using PLS-CADD , PLS-POLE , and related transmission design software. Experience with project management and engineering consultant coordination. Utility industry experience preferred.
