Job Description

Covia is looking for a dynamic 2nd shift Dredge Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Tuscaloosa, AL location. As a Dredge Operator, you will mainly be responsible for the safe operation of our cutterhead dredge. The successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:

• Ensure safety is the top priority. All activities are to be completed following MSHA regulations, plant procedures, and corporate safety and health policies.
• Ensure compliance with quality procedures and standards.
• Communicate with key personnel at shift change, daily.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Literacy in English, both verbally and written.
• Previous experience within sand mining operations preferred, but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Swimming is a preferred skill to have.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
