Location Address: 211 Sudderth Dr Ruidoso, NM 88345-6002 Type of Opportunity: PRN Summary Primary responsibility will be providing patient care to the patients of the Emergency Departments. Responsibilities Perform the entire patient care continuum for all patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including initial assessments, appropriate ordering/interpretation of diagnostics, and exercise of treatment algorithms (e.g., treatment of abscesses, laceration repair, fracture stabilization and splinting). Arrange for appropriate disposition (including admissions) for patients ranging from newborn to geriatric. Utilize available physician resources appropriately and demonstrate high confidence in treating patients. Provide primary patient care to include care of high acuity patients (ESI 1-5) and perform procedures such as running codes, conscious sedation, airway management with LMA/intubation/chritothyrotomy, ultrasound‑guided central lines, joint aspiration, lumbar puncture, and joint and fracture reductions. Review labs/x‑ray reports, issue medication refills, patient referrals, patient education, health maintenance, and symptom management for acute and chronic disease. Serve in an educator role for staff RNs, ER techs, APC students, and residents as needed. Engage in management/administrative/organizational roles including attending meetings, maintaining schedules, and participating in monthly committees to improve patient care. Assist in the screening/evaluation process for prospective employees, staffing and management, and in the development of policies and procedures for clinical areas conforming to JACHO, regulatory agencies, and PHS/EH. Participate in data collection and quality management activities, using available data to drive ongoing professional practice improvement. Accept and assimilate feedback from all levels of staff/providers and participate in improvement projects, organizational initiatives, team‑building exercises, section meetings, and semi‑annual provider reviews. Maintain patient medical records as required by the hospital and regulatory agencies and seek opportunities to increase accuracy and pertinent information capture. Obtain and assimilate feedback related to documentation and coding for appropriate billing capture. Participate in the once‑monthly call shift. Maintain continuing education and ER requirements (ACLS and PALS) and communicate with hospital and medical staff. Meet all documentation requirements to include transfer of patients to other facilities in full compliance with EMTALA and perform other functions as required. Qualifications M.D./D.O. in Emergency Medicine. New Mexico State M.D. license required. Three to five years of experience in emergency care and/or residency training in emergency medicine, capable of caring for patients of all ages from newborn to geriatrics.
