Pediatric Outpatient Clinical Dietitian I / Dietitian II

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a Pediatric Clinical Dietitian. This position uses the Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for pediatric outpatients and inpatients. The role also includes teaching Master of Clinical Nutrition students, participating in multidisciplinary teams, and developing the nutritional components of care. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles appropriate to patients of all ages. Responsibilities Provides quality patient care, including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans appropriate for the patient. Educates students with on-the-job training, evaluates their work, and provides support to ensure work is completed. Assesses nutrition status and counsels patients on appropriate diets. Participates as part of the medical team in addressing problems affecting patients’ food habits and needs, and participates in health team rounds concerning patient care. Assists in the implementation of studies and short-term projects. Performs special projects as assigned. Participates as an active member of departmental/hospital committees. Reviews and analyzes production, maintenance of standards, cost, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress and control or reduce costs. Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Assists other dietitians as needed. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Clinical Dietitian I A Master’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered before January 01, 2024, a Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Clinical Dietitian II Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of clinical nutrition experience. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated competency of patient care in the pediatric GI inpatient and outpatient setting. Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas. Certifications Clinical Dietitian I Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. Licensure by the State of Iowa is required. Clinical Dietitian II Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
