Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Security Officer. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing security by protecting NYULOH patients, faculty, staff, students, and visitors, and by preventing destructive acts to NYULOH property. Job Responsibilities Prioritize, complete, and communicate assigned work, completing all tasks by the end of the tour. Ensure coordination of departmental activities by informing members of current status, demonstrate willingness to perform various work assignments competently, and take on additional assignments upon completion. Perform other duties as assigned. Patrol NYULOH grounds and facilities to safeguard life and property, perform security checks, enforce NYULOH and Security Department policies, recognize hazardous situations and implement preventive measures, and demonstrate knowledge of all security posts including the operations center. Investigate and follow up on incidents that compromise safety and security of the NYULOH community or property. Apply investigative techniques, identify appropriate contacts, assist in emergencies, gather facts, assess incident scenes, and interview subjects, suspects, witnesses, or complainants following Security Department procedures. Respond to the needs and requests for assistance from the NYULOH community and visitors, providing a prompt and courteous response and demonstrating awareness of underlying issues. Prepare written reports that are clear, complete, and accurate, completing them in accordance with Security Department policies and submitting them to the supervisor on a timely basis. Communicate effectively with all departments, the NYULOH community, and visitors, maintaining confidentiality of information, defusing tense or hostile situations, listening carefully, and responding professionally. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, Valid New York State Security Guard License, and effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Licenses Security Guard Reg-NYS and Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications Prior military or law enforcement experience or Fire Drill Conductor certification is a plus. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $23.23 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
