Data Readiness and Governance Project Manager

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead critical initiatives that ensure enterprise data is accessible, reliable, and AI-ready through strategic data delivery programs and governance frameworks. This role will be responsible for orchestrating cross-functional projects that transform raw data into actionable, high-quality datasets while establishing the infrastructure and processes needed to deliver data efficiently across the organization for AI and analytics use cases.


Key Responsibilities


Project Leadership and Strategy
Lead end-to-end project management for data readiness assessments, data governance implementations, and organizational change initiatives
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies for complex data and data governance projects
Manage project portfolios involving multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and technical dependencies


Data Readiness and Delivery Operations
Lead data readiness assessments to identify gaps in data availability, quality, and format requirements
Manage projects for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery across multiple data sources and consumer applications
Establish SLAs and monitoring frameworks for data delivery performance, availability, and quality metrics


Data Governance and Compliance
Implement data governance frameworks that support scalable data delivery while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
Establish data stewardship programs and quality standards that maintain data integrity throughout delivery pipelines
Coordinate data lineage mapping and impact analysis to support reliable data delivery and change management
Develop governance policies that balance data accessibility with security and compliance requirements


Stakeholder Management and Communication
Serve as primary liaison between data engineering, data science, business stakeholders, and executive leadership on data delivery initiatives
Facilitate requirements gathering sessions to understand data consumption patterns and delivery needs across business units
Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, data delivery metrics, and performance dashboards
Present data readiness assessments, delivery performance metrics, and project updates to steering committees and leadership teams


Process Improvement and Innovation
Identify opportunities to streamline data delivery operations and reduce time-to-value for data consumers
Champion self-service data access initiatives and develop training programs to improve organizational data literacy


Required Qualifications


Technical Skills
Intermediate-level experience with SQL or other query-languages
Certification in data management (CDMP), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), or DataOps practices
Experience with agile project management methodologies, DevOps, and DataOps implementation
Deep understanding of data pipeline architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and data delivery patterns
Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and cloud data services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Knowledge of data integration tools, API management, and real-time data streaming technologies
Understanding of AI/ML data requirements, feature engineering, and model training data preparation
Proficiency in project management tools and data platform monitoring tools
Experience with data governance and catalog tools (DataHub, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Apache Atlas)

Education and Experience
Master's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or MBA with focus on data strategy
7+ years of project management experience with focus on data delivery, data platform implementation, or analytics initiatives
3+ years of hands-on experience with data pipeline development, data warehouse projects, or enterprise data architecture
SalesForce professional consulting experience preferred
Proven track record managing end-to-end data delivery projects from requirements gathering through production deployment
PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar project management certification preferred
