Description We are seeking a compassionate Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team! Orlando Recovery Center, part of The Recovery Village network, provides comprehensive treatment for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and co‑occurring disorders in a state‑of‑the‑art inpatient treatment environment. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality medical and psychiatric care across the continuum of treatment. Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and interdisciplinary treatment teams, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patients experiencing substance use disorders, withdrawal symptoms, co‑occurring mental health conditions, and other medical concerns. Key Responsibilities Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medical assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, manage medications including medication‑assisted treatment (MAT), monitor detoxification protocols, review laboratory results, document care in the electronic medical record, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal standards. Participate in treatment planning, patient education, quality improvement initiatives, and on‑call coverage as assigned. The ideal candidate The ideal candidate is a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner with experience or a strong interest in addiction medicine, behavioral health, and recovery‑focused care. Candidates should possess excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping individuals achieve lasting recovery. Job Duties Provides excellent medical care with the ARS philosophy outlined by the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director. Includes establishing rapport, systematically gathering data, determining readiness for treatment, and applying diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders. Screen for co‑occurring Primary Mental Health issues. Screen for Substance Use Disorders (SUD) including psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms. Must have knowledge of medications, assessment for medication complications, detoxification protocols, and prescribing medications. Screen for danger to self or others with evidence‑based assessment tools – the Columbia Suicide Screening Rating Scale (CSSRS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire‑9 (PHQ‑9). Analyze and interpret data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities. Screen for nutrition deficiencies and make interventions or refer for a nutrition consultation as appropriate. Screen for pain and understand treatment strategies for pain including pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic approaches. Demonstrate proficiency using the electronic health record with all required documentation and ensure compliance with company policies, state regulation, and Joint Commission standards. Complete required electronic record documents: Psychiatric Evaluation; Physical Examinations; Medical Progress Notes; Medical Discharge Summaries; Medication and ancillary orders; Allergies; Diagnosis updates; Laboratory date interpretation; HIV results review; STD results communication. Understand ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria and document decision making and treatment planning accordingly. Know on‑call responsibilities, maintain contact and backup numbers, be responsive, and be within one hour of facility. Other tasks with the Medical Director: develop cost‑effective methods for therapeutics, assist in formulating high‑standard patient care, review level of care changes and provide peer reviews, support NPs, PAs and students, adhere to safety and infection control guidelines, clock into ADP per schedule, perform other assigned duties. Requirements Graduated from an accredited Nursing Master’s Program with a Family Nurse Practitioner or higher and a Psychiatric Nurse practice degree. Experience in Addiction Medicine or Primary Behavioral Health preferred. Familiarity with JCAHO and other healthcare standards preferred. Familiarity with ASAM/ASAM Criteria and other standards preferred. Application of Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Team philosophy and ability to develop and apply organizational strategies. Excellent communication skills, self‑motivated, confident. Licensed Nurse with Master’s Degree or higher to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the applicable state. Must have a DEA authorizable prescriber status and completed at least eight hours of educational training on opioid/substance use disorder treatment. Understand that a protocol agreement may be required between NP and Medical Director; may be required before DEA approval. Must be willing and able to work on on‑call duties and meet time‑frame requirements. Benefits Scheduling flexible, required to be onsite & some on‑call.
