Description Veterinary Technician South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital – Baton Rouge, LA Part‑Time Thrive Pet Healthcare is a veterinary services organization offering comprehensive care. The part‑time position requires 20‑30 hours per week, including day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Job Duties Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow. Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians. Monitor and assess patient status. Collect blood and other samples for testing. Place catheters. Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments. Assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records with the practice system. Obtain relevant health history from clients and maintain medical charts. Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members. Experience & Skills Requirements Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required. 1–2 years of clinical experience. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program preferred; alternatively, equivalent education, training and experience. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squatting, reaching, standing, and walking throughout the day.
