Drug and Alcohol (TEAP) Specialist

Position Summary The Alcohol Drug Abuse Specialist, also known as the Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) Specialist, plays a vital role in supporting Job Corps students’ health, wellness, and career readiness. This position provides education, prevention, and intervention services related to substance use and abuse, while fostering a safe, supportive, and mission‑driven environment that empowers young people to succeed in training and in life. Key Responsibilities Instructional & Educational Duties Deliver structured group instruction on substance abuse awareness, prevention, and healthy decision‑making Integrate lessons into the Career Success Standards curriculum, ensuring students understand the impact of substance use on employability and workplace safety Develop and maintain lesson plans, educational materials, and workshops tailored to diverse learning needs Provide orientation sessions for new students on Job Corps’ zero‑tolerance policies and wellness resources Student Support & Counseling Conduct individual assessments to identify students at risk for substance use issues Provide short‑term counseling, motivational interviewing, and referrals to community resources when needed Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Wellness staff, and Residential Advisors to ensure coordinated student care Support students in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and personal responsibility Compliance & Program Management Ensure compliance with the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) regarding TEAP services Maintain accurate and confidential records of student participation, progress, and referrals Participate in case management meetings and contribute to student success planning Provide staff training on recognizing and responding to substance use concerns Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred Certification or licensure in substance abuse counseling (CADC, LADC, or equivalent) REQUIRED Minimum 2 years of experience in substance abuse prevention, counseling, or education Experience working with at‑risk youth or young adults is highly desirable Strong communication, facilitation, and motivational skills Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, mission‑driven environment Benefits Paid time off Sick time Vacation 401K Health Dental #J-18808-Ljbffr R&S Lowndes Management LLC
